Visiting the Atom Smasher

Who knew that Yale has a superconductor right next door to our parking lot? EVO Engineering Explorers spent Saturday morning inside this decommissioned superconductor in Wright Labs, where we learned about the history and function of this technology, and totally reeked out walking around inside. We even got to step inside the superconductor itself, and a machine that, in its operational stage, was seldom opened because of the pristine conditions needed and the large volume of research that it was needed for.
