LADIES FIRST

Highlighting Women of Science

This year, the students of the EVOLUTIONS program have chosen to highlight women of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) from the past and present. While women have always been involved in STEM, they often did not receive the credit that they deserved, particularly women of color. The EVOLUTIONS students felt that these women should be highlighted because, though they might be little known, their accomplishments and discoveries are numerous and remarkable. Though "fame is fleeting," as astronomer Vera Rubin says, EVOLUTIONS students wanted to make sure that the people behind science are celebrated along with their accomplishments. With this exhibition, the students have gathered their research to shed light on these unsung pioneers and role models, in the hopes that we can all come together for a brighter future where more women and girls feel empowered to follow their dreams in any field.
